The change delay

The change delay makes you wait before you give yourself more room. Tightening a rule applies at once. Loosening one waits the delay you chose.

The moment you most want to raise a limit is usually the moment the limit is doing its job. The delay means that decision is made while you're calm.

What counts as loosening

• A higher limit, or a shorter pause or lock.
• Changing a rule from Block to Warn.
• Allowing Place with a note on a rule.
• Switching a rule off, or deleting it.
• Moving a rule from all accounts to one account.
• A shorter disarm delay on the kill switch.

If one part of a change loosens, the whole change waits.

Set it

1. Go to Rules. The Changing your rules card is at the bottom.
2. Choose a delay: No delay, 1 hour, 4 hours, 1 day, 3 days or 1 week.

Raising the delay applies at once. Lowering it is itself a loosening: it waits your current delay. The longest delay is 30 days.

While a change waits

• The old rule keeps applying. The rule shows when the change lands: Loosens to 3% in 3 h 12 min.
• You can cancel the change at any time. The rule stays as it was.
• If you tighten the same setting in the meantime, the tighter value applies now and the waiting change to it is dropped.
