How a rule works
You will know what a rule is, what room means and where each order is checked.
A rule is a limit you set on your own trading. Turtle Terminal checks every order you place here against your rules before it's sent.
A rule is a sentence
Every rule reads as one sentence with your numbers in it:
Stop me from opening positions when today's loss reaches 2% of my starting equity, for 120 minutes.
On the Rules screen, click a number to change it. Tightening applies at once; loosening waits your change delay.
Room
Each rule shows its room: how much you have left before it stops you. $620 left today. 3 of 10 orders left this hour. BTC: $1,800 more. Room is always what's left, rounded down, so it never promises more than is there.
The room check
The ticket has a room check between the amount and the button. As you type, it shows:
- the rules this order would break, first;
- rules it would push close to their limit;
- one line for the rest: Checked against 12 rules. Click it to see every rule.
When you press the button, the server checks the order again with a fresh price. Its answer is the one that counts.
What rules don't do
- Rules only check orders you place in Turtle Terminal. Orders you place at your exchange directly aren't checked; see Orders placed outside.
- Closing a position is always allowed, except under the kill switch.
- A rule never sells what you hold. It stops orders; it doesn't place them.
- Your account is re-checked within 60 seconds of every change, not in real time.
