Orders placed outside

You will know what happens to trades you make at your exchange without Turtle Terminal.

Turtle Terminal checks orders you place in Turtle Terminal. Orders you place at your exchange directly never pass through it, so they aren't checked by your rules.

How they show up

Turtle Terminal re-checks your account within 60 seconds of every change. When a fill appears that doesn't match an order placed here, it's recorded in your Journal as Placed outside. Orders that came through Turtle Terminal are marked Checked.

Placed-outside trades count like any other:

  • They change your positions, account value and today's result.
  • They count toward your loss limits and losing streaks.
  • A loss on them can start a pause or a re-entry lock for orders you place here.

Why Turtle Terminal can't stop them

Your exchange holds your account and takes orders from its own website and app. Turtle Terminal is one way in, not the only one. It can make sure you see what happened; it can't stop an order it never received.

Find them

  1. Open Journal.
  2. Filter by source: Placed outside.

When you'd use the exchange directly

  • To manage positions while the kill switch is on.
  • When your exchange is unreachable from Turtle Terminal but works on its own site.
  • For products Turtle Terminal doesn't support, such as futures.

The Guard pill always has a link to your exchange.
