When data is out of date

You will know why opening is sometimes paused and how to get your data fresh again.

Your rules are only as good as the account figures they check. Turtle Terminal syncs your account with your exchange and re-checks it within 60 seconds of every change, and at once after every order you place. If the last good sync is more than five minutes old, your data is out of date.

What you see

  • The Guard pill reads Data out of date with opening paused.
  • The ticket button reads Opening is paused, with the time the data went out of date.

What still works

  • Closing. Orders that reduce a position still go.
  • Everything at your exchange. Your positions and orders there are unaffected.

Opening is paused because a rule checked against old figures could let through an order that breaks it.

Get fresh data

  1. Click the Guard pill.
  2. Choose Sync now.
  3. When the sync succeeds, the pill returns to its normal state on its own.

If it keeps failing

  • Exchange unreachable: your exchange isn't answering. Turtle Terminal tries again on its own. You can still trade at the exchange directly.
  • The connection was removed: if the exchange no longer accepts the connection, for example after you deleted the key or removed SnapTrade's access, choose Connect and connect again. See Connect an exchange.
  • Check your exchange's status page for an outage.

Prices

Quotes may be slightly delayed. The room check uses the worst plausible price for your order, and the fill price your exchange gives is the one that counts.
